¡Presente! Media interview with Philly Mayoral Candidate Cherelle Parker

Spanish is one of the most common languages spoken in Philly yet there aren't sufficient city services and programs translated into Spanish. That’s why on April 10, ¡Presente! Media journalist, Gabriela Watson-Burkett was on the ground at the Latino Mayoral Forum at Esperanza to explore how this issue among others will be addressed by Democratic-Elect Mayoral Candidate, Cherelle Parker considering she was one of few candidates who signed up for Agenda Latina after Maria Quiñones-Sanchez’s mayoral-race drop out.
**Agenda Latina is Quiñones-Sánchez’s outline of proposals to better support Philadelphia’s Latino communities with initiatives that include representation, language access, education, and more.**
In this short interview, Parker confirms that she will make her program available in Spanish “immediately” and that governmental services available in other languages will be carried out through “standard operating procedure”.

El español es uno de los idiomas más comunes que se hablan en Filadelfia, pero no hay suficientes servicios y programas de la ciudad traducidos al español. Por eso, el 10 de abril, ¡Presente! La periodista de medios, Gabriela Watson-Burkett, estuvo en el Foro Latino de Alcaldes en Esperanza para explorar cómo este tema, entre otros, será abordado por la candidata demócrata a alcaldesa electa, Cherelle Parker, considerando que fue una de las pocas candidatas que se inscribieron en Agenda Latina. después de la salida de la carrera por la alcaldía de María Quiñones-Sánchez.
